Slón Bentley

Slón is a military spouse of more than 20 years, and the mother of a teenager and a preschooler.  She graduated from college with a degree in English and Theatrical Design.  She worked in the world of professional theater, as a costume designer, and with children’s theater and Shakespeare camps.

When the army sent her husband to Germany, she happily followed.  An avid lover of travel, she has been lucky enough to live in Europe for 11 years, and has visited more than 25 countries, on 4 continents.

As a military spouse she’s had a variety of jobs at various bases around the world. She has worked for the University of Maryland, University College, Europe, as the assistant to the head of the Middle East Division, the Assistant Director of a Troon Golf course, a Realtor, a Real Estate writer, and a Senior Land Agent for Ellis and Associates.  She has also edited 3 novels.

Her first love has always been the written word, and as a child, could almost always be found with her nose in a book.  She started writing stories at a young age and wrote a play that was performed at her elementary school’s Thanksgiving pageant.  It was one of the highlights of her young life.  She wrote two more plays at as a teen, that were performed at her high school, along with dozens of other, unpublished, stories.   In addition to her professional work, Slón continues to write stories for pleasure, and is still often found with her nose shoved in a book…or e-reader.  She firmly believes that laundry is awful, dogs are great, high heels are gorgeous, and that Magnum ice cream bars just might be the world’s most perfect food.
